The relationship between pretreatment/finishing and stamping departments is often a tenuous and rocky one. All too often the departments are pitted against each other (purposefully or inadvertently) in the name of reducing scrap and rework, cutting process costs and maximizing efficiencies.
The following discussion will address some key factors in getting the two departments working more cooperatively and will attempt to help differentiate types of lubricants and how they can interact with – and even benefit – pretreatment processes.
